- 1 lb (450g) ground lamb (80–85% lean)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, grated
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking)
- 4 burger buns
- Lettuce, tomato slices, red onion, and sauces for serving
- Garlic Aioli:
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 cloves garlic, minced or made into a paste
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- Pinch of salt and black pepper
Instructions
- In a bowl, gently mix ground lamb, minced garlic, grated onion, parsley, cumin, salt, and pepper until just combined. Form into 4 equal patties, about ¾-inch thick, pressing a shallow indentation into the center of each.
- To make aioli, combine mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Chill for 30 minutes before serving.
- Heat grill to medium-high (400-450°F) or heat olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side (grill) or 5–6 minutes per side (skillet), until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Toast buns during the last minute of cooking. Let patties rest for 1–2 minutes.
- Assemble burgers with aioli, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and desired toppings.
Notes
For extra flavor, add fresh chopped mint or rosemary to the meat mixture.
Use gluten-free buns or lettuce wraps as a gluten-free option.
